Today we are going to discuss transformers and its types 

The basic definition of a transformer - It is a static device that transfers electrical energy to one circuit to another.

The types of transformers

In the transformer, there are mainly two types 

• Step-up transformers
• Step down transformers

What is a step-up transformer

When the voltage increases at the output side of the transformer are called step-up.

What is a step-down transformer

When the voltage decreases at the output side of the transformer are called step down.

The basic difference between both 

1. Step up will increase the voltage
2. Step down will decrease the voltage

Two sides of the transformer

It has two sides

• primary side 
• secondary side

The supply source is given to the primary side of the transformer.
